Description
The role of the Security Consultant is to deliver Wanstor’s security offerings and capabilities within our hosted, managed and customer networks.
This role involves consulting with our customers to define their needs, implementing existing tools and services and driving the build of new products and services to improve our customers’ Cyber Security and Data Security.
Key Responsibilities
Function as a subject matter expert on risk and compliance helping our customers with their technology change programmes.
Consult with our customers on their Security needs and drive the delivery of security products & services by working with internal & external stakeholders to translate requirements into tangible actions.
Implement and configure the tools and services that we provide to our customers.
Support the development of our protective security monitoring services and implement relevant tooling such as SIEM.
Oversee the threat and vulnerability platform for scanning of assets. Assessing the results and drive actions required to address findings and maintain coverage.
Manage emerging security incidents within our customer base.
Conduct consultancy and audits against security certifications such as Cyber Essentials
Keep up to date with the threat landscape, trends and emerging technologies.
Inspire, influence and coach others to execute security principles
Skills, Knowledge & Expertise
Analytical thinking – able to simplify complex problems, processes or projects into component parts explore and evaluate them systematically
Strategic thinking – able to identify a vision along with the plans, which need to be implemented to meet the end goal, evaluating situations, decisions and issues in the short, medium and long term.

Communication – able to get one’s message understood clearly by adopting a range of styles, tools and techniques appropriate to the audience and the nature of the information
Good familiarity with frameworks such as GDPR and ISO27001
Cyber Essentials experience
A demonstrable understanding of the core concepts of Cyber Security:
Security and Risk Management.
Incident Response
Identity and Access Management (IAM)
Security Assessment and Testing
Familiarity with common security tools such as Vulnerability Scanners and SIEM solutions.
Experience of incident response/incident management.
